  • Other Awards and Recognition

    • Karen Toney, UCF Concerto Competition Winner
    • In July 2010, four UCF percussion majors (Josh Brink, Kaylee Bonatakis, Chris Lin, and Matt Roberts) attended the annual So Percussion Summer Institute at Princeton University. As part of the event, the quartet performed movements of David Lang's The So-Called Laws of Nature, Terry Riely's In C, and Edgard Varese's Ionisation.
    • Barry Kerch, B.A., as the drummer with the rock group Shinedown. Barry performed on their 2003's Platinum selling album Leave a Whisper and 2005's Gold selling album Us and Them. The band has recently released their third album, Sound of Madness to rave reviews.
    • In April 2007, Jonathan Cooper, B.M.E. and Chris McWilliams, B.M.E. were inducted into the Music Honor Fraternity, Pi Kappa Lambda.
    • Chris McWilliams, B.M.E. and Luis Rivera, B.M.E. were selected to perform in the 2007 WASBE International Youth Wind Orchestra in Killarney, Ireland. The ensemble will perform, among other works, the Schwantner Percussion Concerto with Evelyn Glennie as the soloist
    • Jeff Willis, Omar Carmenates and Thad Anderson formed The Bravura Percussion Trio in the spring of 2005 in Texas. They have performed concerts and master classes at UT-Austin, Baylor, UL-Monroe and TCU and have also been working on a percussion CD project with Professor Jeff Moore. On November 13, 2005, the Trio performed Russell Peck's concerto for percussion trio and orchestra, The Glory and the Grandeur, with the Monroe Symphony Orchestra in Monroe, LA. There was media coverage with an article in the The News Star, the morning KNOE news cast, and concert footage
    • Clif Walker, Director of Timber Creek High School, won the High School PAS Call for Tapes and performed at the 2005 PASIC Convention in Columbus, Ohio.
    • Brian Baldauff, B.M.E. performed Marimba Spiritual with Timber Creek at the 2005 PASIC Convention in Columbus, Ohio.

    • Anthony King, B.M.E. 2006, has accepted a Percussion Assistantship at Texas Tech University in Lubbock as a DMA Candidate. He earned his Masters in Percussion Performance with an Assistantship at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
    • Oliver Molina, B.M.E. 2006, has accepted a Graduate Teaching Assistantship in Percussion from the University of Arkansas
    • Brian Baldauff, B.M.E. 2005, received a full-tuition fellowship to the University of Michigan to pursue his Master's of Music in Performance degree

    • Paul Keck, B.M.E. 2007, is the Associate Director of Bands at Centennial High School in Roswell, Georgia
    • James Wright, B.A. 2005, accepted a job as the music teacher at McInnis Elementary and will also be teaching percussion (drumline/pit in the fall, percussion ensemble in the spring) at DeLand High School. He is also going to flight school at Avion Air Academy and has already earned his private pilot certificate
