Yun-Ling Hsu (許韻玲), a native of Taiwan, earned a Diploma, Bachelor, Master, and Doctorate Degrees of Music in Piano Performance from The Ohio State University and Tainan Woman's College of Arts and Technology in Taiwan.  At Ohio State she was privileged to have been the last pupil of the legendary American pianist Earl Wild and the French-Canadian pianist André Laplante (silver medalist of Tchaikovsky Piano Competition). Hsu received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree with a distinguished doctoral dissertation on the transcriptions of Earl Wild for solo piano of Gershwin songs. Mr. Wild praised her as "an extremely talented pianist as well as a very meticulous and thorough musician."  Six consecutive years at OSU, she held one graduate fellowship and three graduate teaching assistantships in private & group piano teaching, chamber music & accompanying, and was nominated for the award of Excellence in Teaching. She has also participated in master classes and coached with other renowned pianists like Malcolm Bilson, Robert Levin, and Veronica Jochum.  

An internationally recognized pianist, chamber performer and pedagogue, Dr. Hsu extensively performs recitals and teaches master classes in Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the United States as well as judges international/national piano competitions & auditions and presents in international/national teachers' conferences.  Her teaching and research/creative activities have been recognized with 2015 UCF College of Arts and Humanities Dean's Excellence Fund for the foreign cultural exchange performance in Cuba and three internal faculty travel awards of 2018, 2016, and 2015 for teaching and performances in Luxembourg, Cuba, and Denmark (competitive award for research excellence).  She has been invited internationally to:

She has been invited back to perform in Sala Ignacio Cervantes.)

Dr. Hsu has been hailed for "a formidable mastery of piano technique" , "beautiful singing tones and gorgeous colors" , "outstanding and technically adroit of solo performance", and "level of performance to be very highly accomplished". A versatile pianist with a wide variety of repertoire from classical to contemporary styles, she is not only an outstanding soloist but also a highly sought-after collaborative artist. She performs in recitals extensively and has performed with top musicians worldwide, including:

Besides appearing as a solo and chamber musician, she has served as a pianist with the Florida Orchestra in Tampa, Brevard Symphony Orchestra, Bach Festival Orchestra of Winter Park, and currently performs with Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra. 

Professor Hsu joined the music faculty at University of Central Florida since fall of 2005. As the Head of the Piano Studies at UCF, Professor Hsu teaches graduate and undergraduate piano majors applied lessons, pedagogy, ensemble, chamber music and literature classes. She has initiated UCF Piano Day and brought international-known artists to campus for master classes, recitals and collaborative events, and also initiated UCF All-Steinway Summer Piano Camp for young pianists age 11 to 18. She specializes in retraining injured pianists and her teaching focus on injury prevention, health and well-being for pianists, and mind-body connections for increased artistry and creativity. More than 18 years of research and practice of injury-preventive piano technique with various methods,11 years of yoga & fitness training, and 2 years of study of the Alexander Technique with Dr. William Conable.
