Juan Berrios (B.M. in Music - Music Performance, 2010)
Juan Berrios is currently a member of the Dallas Brass, one of America's foremost musical ensembles. Having been appointed while still completing his studies at UCF, Juan joined the Dallas Brass as the youngest member in its extensive history. With the Dallas Brass, Juan has performed and presented hundreds of concerts and clinics all over the country, and can be heard on the album "The American Songbook." While a student at UCF, Juan was the recipient of the Presser Foundation Scholarship, the Performance Excellence Award, was a member of the award-winning Brass Band of Central Florida, and was awarded full scholarships to attend the Music Academy of the West, as well as the Aspen Music Festival and School, two of the most prestigious summer music festivals in the country. A versatile musician, Juan has enjoyed performing with many of Central Florida's finest musical ensembles, including the Horns & Pipes Brass Ensemble, Brass Band of Central Florida, Timucua Jazz Orchestra, Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra, and Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra among others. In addition, Juan has performed with the Boston Brass & Brass All-Stars Big Band, recently gave the Florida premiere of Kenneth Fuch's horn concerto "Canticle to the Sun" with the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra, and performed as a soloist and Regional Artist at the 2013 Southeast Horn Workshop. Also a passionate educator and avid conductor, Juan enjoys working with students in Central Florida, and throughout the country with Dallas Brass, serving as a private teacher, clinician, and guest conductor.
