Summer Opera Institute

Ten-Day Program!

UCF and Florida Opera Theatre co-sponsor this intensive, ten-day program for high school- and college-aged singers interested in exploring classical vocal music and developing their singer/actor skills.

The program is perfect for singers who are interested in pursuing a music education or performance career.

Singers will participate in voice lessons, coachings on solos and duets, master classes, stage movement classes, diction classes, audition preparation, and a final concert.

The Drum Major Academy® is the nation’s foremost authority on the art of drum majoring. DMA helps young leaders in band and drum and bugle corps develop conducting and marching skills, teaching techniques, and communication and leadership.

DMA is the only educational workshop where students receive individual feedback through the use of video, immediately followed by one-on-one instruction from a DMA staff member. Students are given notes specific to their personal conducting needs, and they are individually coached on a daily basis.

Summer String Workshop

The Summer String Workshop offers string students the opportunity to develop their playing talents in a special atmosphere that is both challenging and fun. They enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience in which they can:

  • learn music from the orchestral repertoire
  • perform in large and small orchestras and chamber ensembles
  • receive private lessons with talented faculty
  • experience high-level supervised practice time
  • take part in master classes with artist-level teachers
  • enjoy planned evening activities

The workshop is led by a number of prominent clinicians including Arthur Pranno, UCF Director of Orchestra and conductor of the Florida Southern Symphony Orchestra.

Mallet & Percussion Camp

Cost: $550 through June 1, $650 after

On-campus housing is available at an additional cost. Discounts are available for combined sessions and additional campers from the same family.

This one-week course is designed for the college-level or advanced high school percussionist.

The camp offers a unique opportunity to study closely with UCF Percussion faculty Jeff Moore, internationally recognized percussion clinician, lecturer, and soloist, Kirk Gay, world-class timpanist and orchestral musician, and Thad Anderson, percussionist, composer, and contemporary/electroacoustic music specialist.

Participants will perform in master classes and concerts, and will receive instruction on a variety of percussion subjects.
